Janie's kiss

Hi Everyone,

Janie here.....

So mommy has really been trying to teach me a few new things lately! I think she is kind of obsessed with 2 things:

1. Giving kisses

2. Waving bye-bye

Well, I can pretty much wave bye-bye....but I don't do it on command. Only when I really feel like it! That drives mommy crazy! Ha Ha.

And kissing! Well, mommy kisses me ALL THE TIME and keeps asking me to give her a kiss. I finally starting kissing but I will only kiss one thing--my singing Christmas dog! Mommy is pretty jealous-she wants the kisses, but I only give them to the singing dog right now!!! Mommy got it on video! Check it out!

Why adoption?

I had been considering international adoption for a few years. In late November 2006, I decided it was time to begin the process. Originally, I had hoped to bring my daughter home from China. (I guess I really didn't know much about international adoption and China seemed to be pretty popular and safe at the time). Then, in mid-Decmeber 2006, I learned of the new China regulations. Of the many changes, singles were now excluded--that meant me! Of course, I was very discouraged and disappointed at first. Then after much soul-searching and prayer, I realized that Janie is not in China--she is in Vietnam and this was my way of "finding her". But then after traveling down a long, sad path.....God showed me where my daughter really is-TAIWAN! He really has a journey for me---I trust in Him and I will follow where He leads!!!

Adoption Time Line

12-1-06 - Began researching countries/agencies
12-30-06 - Decided on Vietnam
1-1-07 - Narrowed to 3 agencies
1-6-07 - Chose agency
1-9-07 - Completed agency application
1-11-07- Passport photos taken
1-16-07 - Signed contract with agency
1-16-07- Homestudy Orientation (1st visit)
1-29-07 - Applied for passport
2-3-07 - First PIP class
2-5-07 - Second homestudy appointment
2-7-07 - Doctor appointment for homestudy
2-10-07 - Second PIP class
2-15-07 - Final homestudy meeting
2-16-07- Recieved passport
3-22-07 - Applied to USCIS
4-13-07 - Recieved Fingerprint appointment
4-25-07 - 11:00am Fingerprint appointment
5-8-07 - Recieved letter from USCIS-needing more info
5-8-07 - Sent needed info to USCIS
5-18-07 - Recieved 171-H Approval from USCIS
5-24-07 - Dossier State Certified
5-25-07 - Mailed completed dossier to agency
5-29-07 - Agency called-slight problem with dossier
5-30-07 - Mailed corrections to agency
6-2-07 - Agency sends dossier to Consultate for authentication
6-14-07- Dossier authenticated and sent to agency
6-25-07- DTV - Dossier sent to Vietnam for translation
7-5-07 - Recieved email from agency stating my dossier has been logged into the IAD
August 07 - Waiting
September 07 - Waiting
October 07 - Waiting
November 07 - Waiting
December 07 - Still waiting
January 08 - Still waiting
February 08 - Still waiting
3-7-08 - Received referral
5-28-08 - Update Fingerprints
6-24-08 Lost referral
7-31-08 Homestudy update for I600a renewal
8-20-08 Apply for I600a renewal (just in case)
9-1-08 Vietnam/US Agreement expires
January 09 - God shows me a new path
2-4-09 - I take a leap of faith and trust in God!
2-14-09 - Something WONDERFUL happened
6-8-09 - First Taiwan Court Hearing
