First Snow & Birthday Preparations

Janie experienced her first snow! It snowed about 3-4 inches. She wasn't really sure about it but it was beautiful and she was definetly interested and trying to figure out what it was :):)

Janie and MiMi watching it snow!

Janie and Mommy!

So sweet!

Getting ready for her 1st Birthday, Valentine's Day, and Chinese New Year!

Notice the red envelopes for Chinese New Year! And, in the little white bag is a traditional Asian present from a dear friend. We'll share what it is tomorrow!

Check out Janie's Balloons--she LOVES balloons!!
1. A heart Hugs & Kisses Balloon for Valentine's Day.
2. A Birthday balloon.
3. And a Dragon Balloon (it is to symbolize Chinese New Year). B/C of snow, we were unable to make it to the party store--so that is the best Publix had to offer that could represent Chinese New Year! :):)

I can't wait until she wakes up!! What fun we are going to have tomorrow!! Oh, and her photos taken yesterday--oh my goodness. She was the "fashion baby" sporting 5 different outfits. I cannot wait to see the final pictures. They took soooo many and so many look like they will turn out FABULOUS!! How will we ever chose??

Chinese New Year!

Last weekend we attened a Chinese (Lunar) New Year party hosted by the Asian Mentor Program from The Univ. of Ga. It is a great program. Asian student from UGA are matched with adopted children and they help teach the child Asian culture and traditions. We had a blast....here are some pictures!!

Well this weekend is going to be a busy one. Why? Sunday, Feb. 14 is:
1. Valentine's Day
2. Chinese New Year
3. JANIE'S BIRTHDAY

Yep, she turns 1 on Sunday! What a special day. We have a few things planned but not too much since next weekend is going to be a huge one for her. Friday she goes for her professional birthday photo shoot! I cannot wait! The company is amazing and does BEAUTIFUL work. You can check out thier site HERE.

Saturday we will be busy getting ready for Sunday! Sunday's plan:
Go to church, come home rest, get ready for our B-Day/Chinese New Year/Valentine's Day celebration!! A few friends and family are coming over.

Then next weekend is the biggie!!

Next Saturday we are going to Wylie's 1st Birthday party. You can check out his blog HERE

Then next Sunday is Janie's Baptism. So far we have over 60 people confirmed attending the service and luncheon to follow at a new local restaurant (and about 20 I am still waiting to hear from). We are so excited to dedicate Janie to our Lord that day! Of course she is already a child of God and so blessed....I am beyond touched that so many people are coming to witness this special event. JANIE IS SO LOVED BY SO MANY PEOPLE! It warms my heart!!!!

Here are some more random pictures of Janie sweetness!

Oh yeah! She has another tooth! That makes 2 now!

Lady Bug

Last night there was a lady bug crawling on my lamp (and no it was not Janie)!! For those of you not in the adoption world, ladybugs are a symbol of adoption.

Sleeping Peacefully!

There is nothing sweeter than the sight of a baby sleeping peacefully!

Sweet dreams baby girl!

Oooh we have a big day tomorrow! I am fortunate to live near Athens, GA which is home to the University of Georgia. There is a student organization called Asian Mentor Program where Asian students are matched with locally adopted children from Asia.

They help teach the children Asian traditions and culture....I am looking forward to Janie being matched soon!

Tomorrow evening the students are hosting a Chinese/Lunar New Year Celebration! Pot luck dinner-entertainment-arts/crafts....oh we are so excited! We cannot wait to meet new families and see all the fun things they have planned!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

Loves the camera & Tooth!

Janie has a tooth! Her first one! It finally broke thru the skin this weekend!! It has been trying for a few weeks now! You can't really see it yet, but you can feel it-sharp little thing!!

Janie loves the camera--or should I say, she loves the lens cap. Lately it has been really hard to get pictures of her. The minute she sees the camera she immediately comes and tries to grab the lens cap! Most of my pictures lately look like this:

Silly girl! I cannot believe she is almost 1 year old! I am a little sad about it. I am so lucky and blessed that we became a family when she was still really young (7 months) and I have been able to experience so many firsts (first roll over, first crawl, first tooth, etc). But, I still feel like I missed so much before that and I feel like she is growing too fast!

And her social calendar is packed the next few weekends.

This weekend
Saturday-Asian Mentor Program hosts a Chinese New Year Party that we are attending!!
Sunday-Church and then a Kelly's Kids Clothing Party

Next Weekend:
Friday-First professional photo shoot
Saturday-Probably another haircut (Crazy I know....her bangs grow soooo fast)
Sunday-Her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!! Celebrate with close family and friends
Monday-Doctor appointment-1 year check-up

Following Weekend:
Saturday-Attend Wylie's 1st Birthday party
Sunday-Janie's Baptism and Luncheon to follow--lots of family and friends coming to celebrate!!

Love ya baby girl!!
